The Counseling Garden Bloom Foundation, Inc. is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the social, emotional, and mental well-being of children and families through school-connected and community-based programming.

Founded by educator and professional school counselor Vittoria Jackson, M.Ed., Bloom Foundation addresses documented gaps in access to prevention-focused, family-centered supports—particularly for communities disproportionately impacted by trauma, educational inequities, and limited resources. Our work is grounded in evidence-informed practices, cultural responsiveness, and a two-generation framework that supports both children and caregivers.

Why Bloom Exists
Community Need & Rationale

The Counseling Garden Bloom Foundation was established in response to a need consistently observed in schools and communities: many children and families face barriers to accessing early, meaningful support before challenges become crises. While schools work tirelessly to meet academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs, families are often left navigating complex systems with limited resources, time, and support.

Drawing on more than 12 years of experience in public education, our founder recognized that lasting change requires more than intervention—it requires prevention, partnership, and opportunity. Children thrive when the adults who care for them are supported, engaged, and equipped with the tools to succeed alongside them.

The Bloom Foundation was created to bridge those gaps by providing innovative, community-based programming that:

  • Promotes early intervention and prevention

  • Strengthens children's social-emotional development and resilience

  • Equips caregivers with resources, education, and ongoing support

  • Expands access to creative, educational, and workforce development opportunities

  • Creates meaningful partnerships between schools, families, and community organizations

Rather than replacing existing services, The Counseling Garden Bloom Foundation complements the work already being done in schools and communities. Through programs like Canvas Kids, family engagement initiatives, mentorship, and creative workforce development, we help children build confidence, discover purpose, and develop the skills needed to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

We believe that healing through fashion, empowering through creativity, and investing in families creates stronger schools, healthier communities, and brighter futures. By addressing challenges early and providing opportunities for growth, we are helping young people and their caregivers build the foundation for lifelong success.

Program Model & Service Delivery

The Counseling Garden Bloom Foundation utilizes a two-generation, prevention-focused model that strengthens children, caregivers, and the communities that support them. Through strategic partnerships with schools, nonprofit organizations, and community agencies, we create innovative programs that promote healing, confidence, creativity, and long-term success.

Our work is grounded in evidence-based practices and enhanced through creative experiences that engage the whole child and family. We believe that healing through fashion, empowering through creativity, and strengthening families can transform lives and expand opportunities for future generations.

Our programs integrate:

  • Social-emotional learning and life skills development

  • Trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and strengths-based practices

  • Creative expression through fashion, art, and hands-on learning as tools for healing and self-discovery

  • Workforce development and leadership opportunities for youth

  • Family engagement strategies that foster consistency, resilience, and sustainable growth

Whether a child is designing a garment, building leadership skills, exploring a future career, or developing healthy coping strategies, every program is intentionally designed to nurture confidence, emotional well-being, and community connection.

By investing in both children and their caregivers, we help strengthen family systems, improve educational and social outcomes, and create pathways for young people to thrive—today and for years to come.

Community Impact

The Counseling Garden Bloom Foundation partners with schools, families, and community organizations to create environments where children and caregivers can thrive. • Early intervention and prevention

  • Family-centered engagement

  • Healing through fashion and creative expression

  • Equitable access to educational, wellness, and enrichment opportunities

  • Leadership, workforce development, and life skills

Through generous sponsors, grants, and community partnerships, we remove barriers that often prevent children and families from accessing meaningful experiences and supportive services.

During the 2026–2027 school year, The Counseling Garden Bloom Foundation will proudly sponsor 60 students and their families within the Suitland community through year-round programming and mentorship. This investment extends beyond traditional services by providing opportunities that broaden perspectives, strengthen family connections, and prepare young people for future success.

Sponsored families may participate in:

  • Canvas Kids creative workforce development programming

  • Sewing, fashion design, and entrepreneurship experiences

  • Social-emotional learning and leadership development

  • Family engagement events and workshops

  • Organized educational travel to colleges, museums, civic institutions, and advocacy experiences

  • Community service projects and volunteer opportunities

  • Life skills, financial literacy, and career exploration

  • Mentorship and exposure to new experiences that inspire confidence and possibility

By investing in children and the adults who support them, we are strengthening protective factors, fostering emotional well-being, increasing caregiver engagement, and helping build healthier families and more connected communities. Our goal is simple: to create confident, creative, and community-minded leaders who are equipped to thrive in school, in life, and in the communities they will one day lead.
